Battlestar Galactica writer penning new Sony Santa Monica IP, isn’t God of War

Friday, 19th July 2013 08:57 GMT By Dave Cook

Battlestar Galactica writer Michael Angeli has confirmed he is working with Sony Santa Monica Studio on a new game that is not God of War.

Reporting from Comic-Con, Polygon says that Angeli confirmed his involvement during a panel session at the show.

Angeli told the site that he has been penning work for the game over the past two and a half years, and that the project involves a team of around 150 staff at the studio. He couldn’t say anything about the project but hinted that his work on Battlestar Galactica helped him secure the job.

This stacks up with this weird easter egg discovered in God of War: Ascension that seemed to allude to a new game in the series, or something else from the studio. given Angeli’s experience in sci-fi, this could point to a new futuristic or space-faring experience.

What do you think it is? Well, last year the studio was hiring for people with experience in shooters and vehicular combat. Check out the job posting here.

I’m going to call it…’Bieber In Space: Calamity Cafe’, a hybrid Tower Defense/Rhythm Action game where the androgynous Canadian popster has to repel a rioting mob of disgruntled customers from his salmonella-infested Bistro on the dark side of Ganymede. Voice acting by the Biebs as himself, natch, and Sir Ian McKellan as his trusty Robot sidekick Clive. Soundtrack by Boards of Canada. Rated B for Bieb-tacular.

If this turns out anything like the quality achieved in the first season of Battlestar Galactica then this should be awesome.

@1 Funny, but we do not speak *his* name here.

P.S. Boards of Canada is an incredible Scottish group, yes. I expect to hear a lot of ambient/folktronic groups make their gaming debuts in upcoming/future indie games.

@3 Right on the money! Love Boards, and I think they’d make an amazing game soundtrack – they maybe need to get in a room with Jonathan Blow or Thatgamecompany…I’d dig it.

@5 Damn Microsoft ^_^ Maybe they could release ‘Justin Bieber: Bollock Pop Palooza’ instead; an XB1 Kinect-exclusive title where players can use fists, feet and a variety of household items to launch devastating attacks upon J-Bieb’s puny hairless ballbag (hit detection is key here). Points awarded for damage done and, in the event of a full scrotal prolapse, your console rewards you by becoming fully backwards compatible. Game features 4K roto-scanned likeness of the Biebs, exacting down to the last eyeleash, skin pore and douche-nail. Soundtrack by Amon Tobin.

I’d still love to see a Vikings inspired GoW.
