Crackdown: Spencer wants to see series return when both time and team are right

Monday, 17th June 2013 14:44 GMT By Dave Cook

Crackdown 3 was rumoured for an E3 showing after an Agility Orb logo was spotted during Microsoft’s Xbox One reveal even in May, but it never showed up. Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer has said given the right time and team, he wants to see the series return.

Spencer tweeted his thoughts after a fan asked him about Crackdown’s current status:

We haven’t seen a new Crackdown game since the second instalment dropped in 2010. Would you like to see the series return? Let us know below.

Thanks Gamespot.

Series return… does this mean a third and final game or will they look at a possibly making more games for Crackdown?

I really don’t care though. I love Crackdown. I love Crackdown 2 even more. If Crackdown 3 were confirmed for the Xbox One and I hadn’t already pre-ordered the console, well then I would do it with the announcement of a third game.

    Fingers crossed.

Crackdown > Killer Instinct. MS haven’t a clue.

Well, (almost) ANY game might be superior to the upcoming Killer Instinct, given the fact it’s being made by Double Helix and they’ve failed to release any decent game.

When you think Microsoft bought RARE… to make them do Kinect games… Such wasted talent. Breaks my heart.

Get Rare to do Crackdown! You *know* they’ve got the skills to do it!

What’s the matter, Mattrick? Still butthurt after all these years?

I loved the first Crackdown, the 2nd not so much. Prototype 2 was better than crackdown 2 by far. Now Im getting a PS4, Ill see how Infamous compares to them both.

Infamous is not a over the top superhero game like those two games if that is what you are hoping for.

@8 Actually that’s exactly what Infamous is.

No its not. Prototype and Crackdown are Saints Row to what Infamous is to GTA.

Prototype and Crackdown are over the top silliness super hero open world game. Where Infamous is a more down to earth type super hero game. Can you pick up tanks like they were tonka trucks and throw them to the end of the map? Can you run up the side of a building as if you were flash? Can you take down a helicopter with a kick? Not to mention their plots were hamfisted.

@10: you could say that if you played InFamous for JUST 5-10 minutes…
Towards the end of the game you really become overpowered, up to a point where you can launch storms. So yes, it’s different than Prototype, but not that much and at least there’s a real feel of progression in the growth of your powers.
Don’t get me wrong: I loved both InFamous and Prototype and it’s true that Prototype has a little bit more this silly feel to it that you can find in Saints Row games, but not that much more.

What made me prefer InFamous is its story and character development, which was absolutely excellent. If you are a comic book fan and don’t want to play the game, you can still watch the cinematics (animated comics) on Youtube.
