Xbox One-Supported Xbox Live countries listed

Xbox One's Xbox Live network will only work in certain countries at launch, according to a disclaimer on the console's official pre-order page.

Per the page, Xbox Live on the new system will only work in the following countries:

Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
Russia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
United Kingdom
United States

Also, Xbox One games are for activation and distribution only in the specified geographic regions at present as well. You will notice Japan isn't listed, but it will launch in the country in 2014 as reported previously.

Those who also activate a day one Xbox Live Gold 12 month membership will get the Shadow Jago character for Killer Instinct, for use only with Xbox One to be released in November 2013. The character is available exclusively with Day One Xbox Live Gold until February 1, 2014 but may be available elsewhere later.

This information should help you when deciding when to place your order for the console. Also, it will require at least a 720p capable TV.
