Tekken Revolution E3 trailer shows off free-to-play fighter

Monday, 10th June 2013 01:55 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Tekken revolution, the free-to-play PlayStation Network fighter coming next week, has produced a trailer confirming King, Paul, Lili, Marshall, Asuka, Steve, Alisa and Lars; showing a few other characters in action; and providing almost no further information.

The PlayStation 3-exclusive fighter lands on June 11, apparently because “you asked for it”. There are no details on monetisation yet; I’m going to guess characters, stages and costumes will be offered as premium DLC, and maybe even story campaigns. Interestingly, Tecmo Koei is doing something similar with Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate free edition.

Thanks, I-Pod.

i think this will have a couple of characters (2-3 at most) that come free with the game, and you can unlock the entire roaster through IAPs.

I actually like this idea a lot, especially if the price is fair. Buy the characters you want, ignore the ones you don’t. As long as you’re interested in the competitive side, this could be a great model for future fighting games.

I like where this direction is going, I’d buy my Nina and maybe Dragunov and wouldn’t have to pay full price for characters I’d never touch.
