Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition screens show neat HD port

A new batch of screens show our hero Kazuma Kiryu in fine form as he escapes PlayStation for the first time to star in Wii U release Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition.

The package has only been confirmed for Japanese release, and is something of an experiment on Sega’s behalf.

These screenshots were posted on Amazon Japan, and harvested by Gematsu. An earlier set of screens and even a trailer are also available.

Both Yakuza and Yakuza 2 first released on PS2, and were later given an HD upgrade to PS3 for Japanese release; the Wii U port is presumably based on this version.

Kotaku had a whole article on how, strangely, the Wii U version of this does not look anywhere near as good as the PS3 version of this. It’s strange because the PS3 is a 7 year old system and these are even older PS2 ports. For the Wii U to not be able to match the graphics of a 7 year old system is pretty sad.

Still, if the existence of this helps the PS3 version get to the West, I’m all for it.

Id take everything on Kotaku with a large heap of salt. The game is not even out yet.

Any pics of the PS3 version? Would maybe like to import the Japanese PS3 Version or hope for a Wii U European release.

Its amusing because the latest screens look a lot better than the ones originally posted in the Kotaku article.
