Call of Duty: Ghosts has been shown for Xbox One at Microsoft’s reveal event. See both the official behind-the-scenes trailer, and the new reveal trailer here.

Reveal trailer:

Activision’s Eric Hirshberg took to the stage to announce the game, and confirmed it will run on a new CoD engine, new characters, that will exist in a brand new universe, and stressed that Infinity Ward didn’t want to play it safe by simply doing Modern Warfare 4.

Infinity Ward hired Traffic and Syrianna writer Stephen Gaghan has penned the story, and it is said to be more emotional.

America has been crippled and its military is in disarray, and the Ghosts team is an elite fighting force, all that is left to fight a huge new threat.

You now have a dog in your squad, who you will care about, He protects the team, sniffs out explosives and more.

Gameplay has changed too, as you can now lean around corners, slide into cover and more.

The multiplayer has changed, with dynamic maps that see areas flooding, doors than can be destroyed, and player controlled elements such as shooting a stack of logs and having them roll and kill players.

You can also also edit your avatar fully, right down their helmet, clothing and armour.

The game also runs in 60FPS. Hirshberg stated that the game would be the best Call of Duty yet, as well as the most emotional.

They then showed off a side-by-side comparison of Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Ghosts side-by-side, showing off Activision’s new face animation engine, which was revealed a few weeks ago.

It will also have Kinect voice commands, co-op and second-screen functions (presumably on SmartGlass).

What do you think?

It’s not a new engine. It’s the same old thing but with current gen textures/models/lightning/shadows.

This game could easily be on the 360 or PS3 just not in 60 frames per second. In fact, current gen games look better.

when they showed textures on models I laughed my ass off but at the same time they NEVER SHOWED the environment that looked like Last gen shit.

I like how the DLC is TIMED exclusive. They couldn’t get Activision to commit even DLC as full exclusive.

Some of it looked great and some of it, especially explosions, looked completely current gen.

While it’s nice to see it’s improved, I can’t help but think Battlefield 4 looks a fuck ton better.

One thing that new CoD have is dynamic maps, that sounds cool, but even that is done first by Treyarch (in cod)

Ok, that looked… underwhelming. After Battlefield 4 gameplay, I was hoping for something a bit better. The disparity between textures and models was kinda sad :(

Love how Activision totally screws over the Pc fanbase by excluding them in the *exclusive* content…. Fuck Activision…fuck em. We are the ones that Made Call of Duty What it was..

I wish they hadn’t made a bid deal out of lean, slide and rushing over barriers. The notion that these were features to make special mention of just made me cringe having already experienced them in other shooters this gen.

Looks crappy to be honest. If Battlefield 4 managed to run smoothly on the consoles, then I think it is just safe to say that many will switch for that.

    Yeah, looks underwhelming. No doubt.

    Disappointing.

That sad thing is… this meh showing from an annualized franchise was the most GAMEPLAY oriented part of the whole show. Seriously MS!?

    are you high?
COD is funded by console gamers. revenue coming from PC for call of duty is probably only 5% at most, yet you guys expect the best graphics, PC to be the native platform, dedicated servers, mods and so on.
    get over it.
you’re lucky its even releasing on PC.

@16: You may “do got” all that, but still sadly lack any grammatical skills to speak of. Stay classy, PC Master Race.
