The Kickstarter for Divinity: Original Sin has been successfully funded. It will now be released for Mac and Linux, and new stretch goals and rewards have been announced. With 17 days to go in the campaign, Larian has added the ability to fund the game through PayPal as well. You can have a look at the new stretch goals below or through the link. Divinity: Original Sin is expected in November.

I’m really glad to hear that. I was worried about this one because it sounded like they were back-pedalling away from what made Dragon Knight Saga good, but they’ve won me over. I don’t think this is going to appeal to me as much as, say, Dragon Commander? But I think it’s going to be pretty great.

It steps away from the fantasy tropes just enough. I even poked them about that. And it has the typical Larian sense of humour. As such, it’s already leagues better than Numenera and Eternity have any hopes of being, since it’s pretty obvious that those two are just going to be dry, sterile efforts. Very typical. Trying to appeal to some perceived ‘old guard’ (whoever the fuck they are, I thought I was the old guard).

I’m still waiting for an RPG that’s more like the sci-fi of yore rather than the troped, sterile, and depressingly dull nonsense that makes up contemporary fantasy. But this comes closer than most other Kickstarters. Suffice it to say, it intrigues me.

I just wish they’d been a bit more off the wall with it.

^I wasn’t worried at all. They made a good case, showed awful lot of how it’s gonna be played, and they have hardcore supporters, mainly those who loved Divine and Beyond Divinity. What worries me are their stretch goals. To me this looks more like Divine Divinity and that is why I really want it. The minor issue I have is the fact that the combat is Turn-Base, though I can’t really complain.

And Dragon Commander is RTS. I’m not sure if I give a shit about anything RTS.

I can really say the Sci-Fi RPG is lacking, I’m not sure why all the devs are hell bent on making fantasy games. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) Y U NO Make SCI-FI RPG?

Larian folks are only working on their Divinity universe though, didn’t really expect anything scifi from them.
