Divinity: Original Sin 2 is coming to consoles this summer
Divinity: Original Sin 2 will make its way onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in August.
The rather excellent RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be published by Bandai Namco specifically for consoles.
Developer Larian Studios has tailored the user interface for console play in both four-player online co-op and two-player split-screen.
Additional content updates and extra features are also in the plan, and will be announced closer to the game’s release.
“It was very important to us to have Divinity: Original Sin 2 distributed by a team that understands how to bring RPGs to a broad audience,” said Larian founder and CEO Swen Vincke in the press release.
“With Dark Souls and The Witcher, Bandai Namco demonstrated they know how to do exactly that and so I’m very happy we’ll have their support.”
Development of Divinity: Original Sin 2 began with a successful Kickstarter campaign in August 2015 and was fully funded within 12 hours.
By the end of the crowdfunding period, it had raised more than $2 million from over 40,000 backers. It arrived on Steam Early Access in 2016, and saw a full release in September 2017.
The game quickly dethroned PUBG as Steam’s top seller on release day, and had sold close to 500,000 units just days later.
An exact release date for the console version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be announced in the future.
