Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel producer wants to create the “best co-op campaign on the market”

Friday, 22nd February 2013 20:53 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, like previous titles in the series, will be a co-op only affair because there are enough games on the market with a multiplayer already, according to producer Greg Rizzer.

Speaking in an peice to be published later with VG247′s Dave Cook, Rizzer said his team is focuses on making c-op in The Devil’s Cartel “the best” on the market.

“We always kind of felt like we want to focus on delivering the best co-op campaign on the market,” he said. “That’s something we were known for with the first one. It’s back now, and we feel pretty good about that.

“The fact of the matter is that with competitive multiplayer, there’s plenty of games where that’s their focus, and they they do it extremely well. We don’t feel any need to compete with that.”

Rizzer said he feels many games on the market tack on competitive multiplayer, because some higher-up told the developer it was “needed.”

“With me personally – especially these days – when I buy a game and see, ‘Look, we also have competitive multiplayer’, I just think, ‘You did that because someone said that you needed to do that’,” he said.

“Whereas if we execute a very good co-op campaign, give replayability – which we have in difficulty levels – then there is plenty of content. People will say, ‘Hey, I should keep this game on my shelf because my buddy came over, and we can play it on the couch’.”

Look for Dave’s full hands-on test of the game next week.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will be available on March 28 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

LOL Best Co-Op ?!, Good luck with that.

Also “give replayability – which we have in difficulty levels –” you are kidding right ?!, I guess you should play Dishonored then to know what replayability means and where it comes from.

“Let some people go” is the ugliest way to say they fired a bunch of employes. All the best of luck for them. Couldn’t care less for a new AoT title anyway.

first of all army of two1 was an very good co-op experience with good story. to bad the servers are no more so you cant play it co-op anymore.

army of two2 was just okay and the story was non existence. it is just a shadow of the first game. co-op online servers still on, but how long? and who wanna play it anyway?…

with this new army of two3, everything is just meh. the co-op function/play is just repeat of 2&3 the story is just bland and of no interest and are totally boring.

so these guys are making the best co-op?…. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! that is a good joke.

this game series have had its best co-op and that was in the first game that you cant play co-op more because the servers shut down… typical ea.

Meh. This game is just a shadow of its former titles. Salem and Rios were great and gave the game a lot of humor and personality. These new guys are too serious. I doubt they’ll chat about Wu-Tang Clan right in the middle of a gun fight.
