GameStick Kickstarter closes as funding surpasses goal by 648%

PlayJam's GameStick has announced its Kickstarter project has closed, with the portable games console raising $647,658 - 648% above its initial $100,000 goal.

“We are overwhelmed, excited, grateful, thrilled and everything in between," said Anthony Johnson, CMO of PlayJam. “The campaign has been an incredible success with support from thousands of backers worldwide but this is just the beginning.

"The feedback from the Kickstarter community has been invaluable in shaping the final product and we will continue to seek input from those that supported us to ensure continued innovation ahead of a global retail launch.”

The dedicated games console plugs directly into a TV´s HDMI slot, comes with a Bluetooth controller, and the two combine into a single unit when taken on-the-go.

GameStick is set to ship in April 2013, and those who didn't contribute to the Kickstarter campaign will be able to pre-order GameStick through its website.
