ZombiU death toll now over 300,000

ZombiU characters who fail their mission become zombies to be battled by other players, and Ubisoft Montpellier has quite a collection of them by now.

Although Zombi U has only been out since the Wii U's staggered launch kicked off in November, Ubisoft Montpellier's Guillaume Brunier mentioned a staggering total dead character count in a discussion of the game's unusual online features.

"We’re having a lot of fun doing this. And we have many ideas to get this ball rolling," he told Nintendo World Report of the developer's continued online support of the title.

"One in particular is about our 300,000 plus zombified friends stored on our servers. Who knows what we could do with them."

Ubisoft Montpellier has continued to interface with its players directly through ZombiU, leaving messages throughout the environment and celebrating those who complete the most difficult challenges.

"We wanted to be able to surprise players by being very close to them," Brunier said.
