Game dev accelerator to provide Australian studios with extra funding and guidance

Game development newcomers in Australia could be handed a major boost with the creation of a game dev accelerator in Brisbane. Right Pedal Studios is offering to provide financial aid and guidance to new Android and iOS developers, even offering them a place to work.

Selected teams will receive up to AUD$50,000, office space, and an overlooking eye from the folks at Right Pedal Studios. Steve Baxter, founder of River City Labs, is taking control of the initiative, while 3 Blokes veteran John Passfield will also act as manager.

Alongside these folks, selected studios will work alongside a host of industry names, including Morgan Jaffit (Defiant Development), Dan Vogt (Halfbrick), Matt Hall (Klicktock), David Zwierzchaczewski (Autodesk), Gordon Moyes (Griffith University and Pras Moorthy (Kixeye).

"Australia is home to some of the greatest mobile game developers in the world and we’re excited to help up and coming developers reach their potential," commented Baxter.

"We want to team up with smart developers working on great games. Our goal is to help them where we can and allow them to focus on making the best game possible." added Passfield.

The first groups will be selected across February and March. Best of luck to all involved.

Cheers, MCV.
