Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's new enemies include Volvidon and Lagombi

Meet the two newest creatures to challenge expert players in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Volvidon And Lagombi.

In a profile on Capcom Unity, Lagombi is said to be a Fanged Beast type that lives in icy tundra habitats. It has thick fur and a smooth shell on its belly, which it uses to slide around on at high speed.

Because the Lagombi is so fast, and prefers cold weather, players will need Hot Drinks to constantly refill their stamina in order to win. Sonic Bombs will also help to stagger the creature, as it has oversized, sensitive ears.

At the opposite end of the spectrum is Volvidon. Although Capcom Unity again classifies it as a Fanged Beast, it's quite different - it prefers the heat of ashy volcano fields. Instead of soft fur, it has rocky scales.

Players will need Cold Drinks to keep their stamina up as they dodge the Volvidon's rapid circling; it can roll like an armadillo and speed around the field, but beware its Break Wind attack, which prevents you from eating or drinking and can be neutralised with Deodorant. Volvidon can also spit a paralysing substance.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is due on 3DS and Wii U in March. It is expected to be the final release of Monster Hunter 3 ahead of the launch of 3DS-exclusive sequel Monster Hunter 4.
