Asteroids movie not dead, studio hires new writer
Asteroids – as in the movie, not Atari’s iconic arcade game – is still a thing, and it’s still happening thanks to new script writer Jez Butterworth. No, seriously this is a thing.

Variety reports that Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is still keen to see the project move forward and enlisted Butterworth, scribe on works such as Birthday Girl, Huge and Mojo. Have you heard of these films?
IGN adds that no script details have leaked from tinseltown, but that the plot is rumoured to focus on two brothers who have to save the earth from aliens. So it’s potentially not got a lot to do with asteroids then.
What’s your take? Is this a futile endeavour or would a well-made asteroid disaster flick whet your appetite for destruction? Let us know below.

Good call on Uwe Boll. That guy can find a way to ruin the Pong if given the chance.
