Guild Wars 2 Lost Shores event schedule released

Tuesday, 6th November 2012 05:26 GMT By Brenna Hillier

ArenaNet is still playing coy about its massive one-time Guild Wars 2 world event, The Lost Shores, but has at least provided a timeline.

In a forum post, community lead Martin Kerstein gave a spoiler-free rundown of the schedule:

  • On Friday November 16 at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well.
  • On Saturday November 17 at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in.

You’ll want to be on hand to witness the event, but if you can’t make it, there’ll be other content available after the starting time – although there is one exception which you absolutely should not miss.

  • The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT).

ArenaNet promises more details closer to the time, but wanted to give players time to rearrange their schedules so as not to miss these unique moments – although there wil be permanent content changes in the aftermath for those unlucky enough to be busy at the time.

The Lost Shores is Guild Wars 2′s first major content update since launch.

Thanks, Ausgamers.

As much as I’m loving their commitment to regular events (which are actually pretty enjoyable, too), they’re being incredibly brutal with small time frames for each individual part of each event. I missed most of halloween due to various commitments, and will miss the finale of this one.

Seems rather frustratingly harsh; GW2 has been (for me, at least) far more approachable and manageable than other MMOs, far more accommodating to “casual” players. But these special events are right at the other end of the spectrum. It seems directly at odds with their philosophy of being a viable MMO for people with all levels of available time.
