Borderlands 2 PS3 trophies once again hint at future DLC – report

Thursday, 18th October 2012 04:14 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Borderlands 2′s DLC plans seem to have been outed by the addition of new PlayStation 3 trophies. Again.

According to a NeoGAF user, a recent PlayStation 3 update added three new trophies to the game’s collection.

The three are grouped under the title Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, and details are as follows:

  • Bronze – Explosive – Complete the mission “Long Way To The Top”.
  • Silver – Motorhead – Completed all Campaign of Carnage side missions.
  • Gold – Obsessed – Collected 10 pictures of Moxxi in Campaign of Carnage.

It seems like a very quick turn around for a new piece of DLC, and unfortunately, no screenshots or other evidence were provided, so we’ll have to file this one under “maybe” for now. That said, trophy details for Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty were outed in precisely this fashion well ahead its announcement.

Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty released on all platforms this week; it is the first of four promised campaign expansions included in the shooter RPG hybrid’s season pass. An additional piece of DLC, Gaige the Mechromancer, added a new class, and was free to those who pre-ordered.

Thanks, Blue.

Unfortunately the speed of DLC release for BL2 compared to the first one seems more like releasing existing already developed content via DLC to get moar moneyz. This makes me sad.

this is why i wait for game of year, you always get a much better deal. Don’t like finishing a game, then dlc comes out, then few months later more, like to do one game at a time start to finish but see your point with it being so quick.

Or, on the other hand, I was SO satisfied with the experience of the game I got (I’d say for full price, but I only paid $40-ish because of a 4-pack), that I am THRILLED to see new content coming out so quickly. Well, although I enjoyed the pirate DLC, it was developed primarily by an external studio (Triptych Games if you’re curious) and presented a noticeably lower level of quality than the base game. Giving Gearbox the benefit of the doubt, I would attribute that to it NOT being something they had created previously, but something that was sort of slapped together in the past month or two.

Meanwhile, this Torgue DLC sounds like something more minor, probably one of those ones they said would not be a part of the Season Pass, with some kind of new side missions to do but no meaty mini-campaign like Captain Scarlett. If it has no substantial new characters or amounts of dialogue, something like that could be put together in a week or two. Still, as I said, the more BL2 I can get, the better.
