PS3 Super Slim launch propels console sales up 138%
PS3 Super Slim may not be any cheaper than the original PS3 slim model, but its launch has caused overall PS3 sales to rocket by 138% in the UK last week.
MCV reports that of the 138% increase, 37% of those sales were of the PS3 Super Slim 500GB model.

It was the exclusive Fifa PS3 bundle that give it the boost.

Thats a surprise to be honest. I was a lot more tempted by the 360 bundle GAME & Zavvi had on offer.
£200 for a 250 gig, with Forza, Skyrim & FIFA 13, oh & a month live. Zavvi have a Halo 4 bundle up for pre-order that’s exactly the same, but with Halo not FIFA.

@4
the ps3 have the most exclusive games and its free psn to play online… plus the vita is getting very popular at the moment.
the xbox still tree hugging old names of games, people are just not that interested anymore in it.
its a just a fact…

^ Guess we’ll find out how interested in old names people are when Halo 4 drops

One more way to look at it, maybe people wanted to buy slim asap as they wont be available anymore.

PS3+Vita…
The public are stupid, but not stupid enough to fall for that promise.
It isn’t a WiiU and it never will be.

That’s not very impressive, especially given news of the new revision usually causes a dropoff in sales in the weeks before.

the stupid are the ones that fall for the “new” console that have 8 year old hw tech in it. it is called the wii-u and comes with a gimmick controller that takes half its memory to function properly…

Well iam not tempted to buy one, i prefer the old slim model, i am not a fan of the sliding disc tray, not only on consoles, in any other devices too, i dont like it, if i need to buy a new one, besides my fat and my slim, i will get another slim with a different colour, but good to hear that people dig this style, though.

Why would anyone buy one now when it is obvious that a price cut is imminent?

just remember 256 of that half a gig goes to the wii-u system os…. the rest is for the games… and dont forget that gimmick controller suck on the same cpu of the wii-u the game use at the same time of usage.

the price cut have been imminent since the day of release… all devices price points fall after a while.. if you have the patience to wait you would know that.

Wii-U has 2Gb. 1Gb for games, 1Gb for system OS. That’s a fact confirmed on this site and others. Where does the “controller that takes half its memory to function properly…” come from?

@15, And don’t forget your speculating on a console you have neither seen or played
But keep up the conjecture

dont argue with @15, his name makes it obvious he drags you down to his level and then wins with experience

hehe, yea it was really nice and relaxing. lots of reading in front of the fireplace, creepy night walks with flashlights through deep forests, cooking good food (lots of earth closet action too) and a lot of canoeing on huge huuuge lakes. was fun. thx for asking. next week it´s back to work, but it´s not too bad- i kinda like my job
cannot wait to get my filthy gaming hands on halo4. that gets me truly excited atm. cannot believe its only a few weeks to wait…
i am really looking forward to this fall/winter gamingwise. there is a lot of stuff for the 3ds i cannot wait for and the wiiu launches. then there´s halo too. lots and lots of things to like.

a small house owed by a friend in sweden near askersund and örebro, somewhere deep in the woods. it´s more in the south of sweden. i am from berlin. it is a 14 hour drive from here. there are lots of lakes…well actually everywhere in sweden. it´s lakes and trees everywhere
the weather was soso, we were a bit late…it´s definiteley much better to go there in the summer.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up!
Was looking into lake / cabin holidays, looks like Sweden would be a good choice!
Glad you had a good time and it wasn’t too much like Alan Wake!

one day it kinda was…when we heard some badgers (?) fighting the day after we watched some cabin horror movie classics. man those animals can make some pretty creepy sounds.

not sure where you are coming from monkey but if it´s the uk i must say that i crave visting england, ireland, wales and scottland again a lot. i “lived” in england for 6 or 7 months as a student and i loved it so much. the people and the nature. the south of england is so different to scottland but it is all very loveley. the country has a great medieval/ celtic vibe to it in a very positive way. i plan to go there again as soon as find the time. it´s almost 10 years ago that i was there the last time…i like the southern european countries too but the nordic countries are beautiful as well. cannot decide what i do like more.

Ha! It might not have been badgers, it may have been:
snømannen!
Yep Uk, Cheltenham. Lots of good countryside near by but we are def missing some epic lakes! Lake district is nice but always packed with tourists. I suppose Scotland would be a good choice too, I’ve never had a ‘battered’ mars bar although I am partial to heroin (joke!)

i have been to the lake district too, it is really nice indeed but i was there in winter. touristwise it was ok as far as i recall it. not too crowded, but yeah canoeing in winter is…well…snømannen
