Whore of the Orient: LA Noire team’s new PS4, Xbox 720 game detailed
Whore of the Orient is the next game from LA Noire developer Team Bondi. It’s heading to next-gen consoles. The team has also revealed the game’s first screenshot.

A statement on the official Whore of the Orient website reads: “Shanghai, 1936. Whore of the Orient. Paris of the East. The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace.”
“From the development team who brought you L.A. Noire and The Getaway, along with the Academy Award winning film production team of Kennedy Miller Mitchell comes a completely new and original IP being developed for next generation games consoles and PC.”
Whore of the Orient was first revealed in November last year, and is to be published by Warner.
Thanks OPM.

And that’s probably all we’ll get for about 7 years.

I honestly can’t see myself buying a game with the word Whore slapped on the front of it.

As long as Brendan McNamara is not attached, the project could actually see the light of day in this decade.

Not interested at all.
L.A. Noir concept was fantastic, but in the end the game was a mediocracy although facial animation was great and stuff.

It’s funny how Loki just fails horribly at trolling. It says that it also comes to PC, because anyway PC is now the new platform for the next-gen developpment anyway while Microsoft and Sony are stuck with 7 year old hardware ^^

@7: I’d actually say that the game was a complete disaster.

McNamara is a good writer, but he does suck at making games.
@2 We both know that’s not true.

Not a fan of having the word Whore in the title… Seems unnecessary…

That awkward moment when they start revealing new IPs for still to be revealed consoles

I like the title, but they should push the envelope.
Sluts of the Orient would be *way* more marketable.

I got the feelling this will not be the retail name for this title.
Having said that, i did like L.A Noire and i will be looking torwards their next game, i did like it more than Heavy Rain.

Whore of the Orient is an actual term, guys. It refers to Shanghai.

Loved LA Noire, so can’t wait to see more on this. Hopefully, this doesn’t take 7 years, and the broken wills of ex employees to do it.

In this case, Loki is probably right. I bought LA Noire in the Steam sale and have never been able to play it. Can’t even get past the title screen.
Won’t be buying this, that’s for sure.

@20, pretty doubtful that they’re using RAGE or any other Rockstar technologies, so pretty irrelevant.

Maybe. Still makes me think twice before going anywhere near it. They haven’t exactly got a great reputation for work on the PC…

Didn’t Team Bondi get shuttered after LA Noire? I know I’m missing something here

@24 Nah, they got dumped by Rockstar as I recall? And a lot of people left because McNamara is a cunt to work for.

Oh, okay. I thought they got into a huge debt from that special tech for fancy facial expressions and had to close down.
But this is interesting. I too don’t imagine that being the final release title, just because the word ‘whore’ presses some of the wrong buttons for people (even if it does have a meaning).

Not true Team BOndi was bought up by another company and McNamara went with them along with most of the team.

Well there is a way of controlling that aspect like removing the amount of control he has and just make him part of the concept crew. He could have power over what the game is about but no power over the resources. THere are more people like this in the industry than there are otherwise. Most of the time the companies put them in a remote area in the studio at least that’s what I have seen in my experience. Team Bondi in LA Noire just didn’t have a way to keep him in check since it was his studio.

I hope theres even more character breaking moments of sheer lunacy like the interview segments of LA Noire. Getting them wrong on purpose is more fun than the actual game itself.

Why did I never think of that?
Usually when you did what the manual suggested you got it wrong.
Because maybe they knew that you knew about the flickering eyes, or maybe you knew that they knew, that you knew…
That’s great logic for a videogame

Theres some truely staggering segments as Cole bellows in innocent peoples faces.
He keeps on getting promoted though, Cole Phelps the worst best cop in the city.

They’re going to have to change the name.
By the way, I enjoyed L.A. Noire. Not the greatest game ever made but still a good one.
