Aliens: Colonial Marines – new competitive multiplayer mode revealed

Aliens: Colonial Marines will contain a four against four multiplayer mode called Escape, according to an announcement from SEGA.

The mode has players choosing to play as either marines or xenomorphs. The marines will try and reach a safe point during the mode, and the xenomorphs are tasked with trying to kill the marines as fast as they can.

If you’re heading to PAX this holiday weekend, you’ll be able to try Escape out for yourself.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will release in February for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It will release on Wii U at some point as well.

Watch the trailer for it below.

Oh how great, the Wii U version ain’t releasing alongside 360 and PS3? That happened with Darksiders 2, but that was understandable. But why with a game that comes out as late as 2013? I guess people really are only gonna get a Wii U for the Ninty titles then.

Anyone else play Aliens Online on the PC a few years back?

Three or four Fireteams of four droped into a hive while players controled Aliens(Huggers, Drones, and Queen). The marines had different classes and you could level up your class a bit. Was the second best competitive online game I have ever played. I doubt this game will reach that lofty benchmark, but still looks great!

Top 3 online gaming experiences, IMO:

M59
Aliens Online
Mechassult

@11
It still makes perfect sense. The developers haven’t had a development kit for the console since they started work on this game and thus they have to figure out the architecture for the console and if i know Nintendo right there isn’t enough documention with the development kit so the developers have to figure out a lot of things about the consoles for themselves and thus the Wii U version is getting released later than the rest.

I haven’t really been blown away by the gameplay they’ve shown so far. I trust Gearbox to a certain extent, but it looks closer to Duke Nukem than Brothers in Arms.
