Metroid: ‘Team Ninja wants to work with Nintendo again’ – Hayashi
Metroid may make a return if Nintendo and Team Ninja figure out the best way forward for the series, Dead or Alive 5 director Yosuke Hayashi has told VG247.

We quizzed Hayashi on the matter of a Metroid: Other M sequel at gamescom, to which he replied “Unfortunately Metroid is kind of out of our league as it’s Nintendo’s game, but we’re still in close touch with co-creator Sakamoto-san, so we want to do something with him moving forward definitely. It really depends on what he wants to do with the game first.”
Would you like to see Metroi: Other M return, or should it be someone else’s turn? Let us know below.

To be fair to TN I thought the game-play for Other M was pretty good (don’t get me wrong the Prime trilogy FPS was amazing in comparison), but please, please, don’t let them do a storyline for anything Nintendo based.

Noooooooooo!!!!!!!! Other M was disgustingly terrible. Man up Nintendo and make a 2D HD Metroid yourselves. Every other Nintendo franchise has made a return to 2D so why not Metroid?

But does Nintendo want?
That is the question.

Oh God no.
Look controlling a 3D game with only a digital controller was a terrible idea. Theres no other control schemes either because they actually thought it was the best method. Then pointing the wiimote at the screen to fire missiles.
Then not being able to fire missiles while moving.
The pixel hunts.
Other M killed Metroid, which is what Sakamoto actually wanted to do in the first place I guess. Western devil Retro made better Metroid, I’ll show them.

@4: 100% agree! that´s what i am hoping for too…some day it just has to happen.
i have a brandnew and still sealed copy of other m lying around. i played and love all the prime games. have the 1 and 2 GC versions and the prime wii triology…like i said, i havent played other m yet…is it really THAT bad? the gameplay footage looks interesting to say the least.

Poly for me was good, it took some elements of the old games using the newest tech like dinamic camera, etc, and they combined with the FPS aspect of prime, which is a plus in my book, but i grant the controls get a long time getting use to, but once you master it, it is really good IMHO.
p.s the story is one hell of a ride for a nintendo game, well keep in mind stories are not nintendo strong suit, so it trumps the other nintendo games out of the water, no that it says much, but is good.

LET THEM RETURN.
The gameplay was almost flawless, super fun, very reminiscent of 2D metroid games. It was way more metroid-ish than Prime. The story however was very cheesy, or more precisely, poorly directed.
Personally, they could make another Metroid with the same engine and graphic MINUS an attempt at storytelling ( and FPS mode ), and I would definitely buy it.

No more FPS games please. Go 2D or stay home. Other M wasn’t that bad. I agree the story was poor. But the actual gameplay, that was pretty good. The fps ones…they just don’t feel like Metroid games. They aren’t horrible, but … meh.
I want a real true to its roots Metroid game.
