Over 1 million players register for Warface in Russia

Friday, 11th May 2012 21:43 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Publisher Mail.Ru Group has announced the Crytek-developed F2P MMOFPS, Warface, has seen 28,000 players competing simultaneously in Russia, and as of May 10, one million players have registered in the region.

“We are extremely satisfied with the Warface results and we are happy that the hard work done by our team over the title has been so fruitful,” said Vladimir Nikolsky, vice president of Mail.Ru’s Game Division in a statement. “We intend to keep up the good work and make Warface not merely a successful game, but also a huge brand and a cybersport discipline, like we did with Cross Fire.”

“We chose Russia to be the debut market for our title, since we have always had a great reception with Russian gamers and had great confidence in Mail.Ru Group’s ability to achieve success, ” added Crytek managing director Avni Yerli.

“We are extremely happy with the launch, the great work from Mail.Ru Group and the massive effort from our development team and can’t wait to let people around the world play Warface,”

Thanks, GI International.

Well, I live in Russia and I must tell you that 2×2 TV channel here is full of Warface ads. They even launched a sort of videogame talk show dedicated to it.
I personally don’t care, F2P shooter is not my thing. But I can tell you loads of people here drooling all over the bloody thing. It’s also depressing, really.
Back to playing Mortal Kombat on my Vita. Nothing disrupts your opponent’s combos better then loud swearing in Russian)))

To be honest game is crap. It’s Call Of Duty/Counter-Strike with Cryengine 3.0.

Call Of duty despite it’s mediocracy is still, a much more polished product. Same goes to new Counter-Strike, it’s much better. Game on the cryengine 3.0 is ugly. I mean it is a good looking but for the CE 3.0 it is nothing special. Animations are smooth, but beyond that…

Way too mediocre for me, probably will spend less than 500 hours on it. 400 hours at most.
