République coming to Mac and PC

Friday, 27th April 2012 04:59 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The Halo veterans at Camouflaj have expanded the scope of debut project République to grace Mac and PC in addition to iDevices.

Camouflaj broke the news in an updated posted on the project’s Kickstarter; check out the video update below.

The new platforms have been added to the project in response to community demand.

The PC and Mac versions won’t be a straight port of the iOS release, though; Camouflaj promised “new gameplay, controls and story elements tailored to the strengths of the PC and Mac platforms”.

Originally announced as an iOS exclusive, République had won over $100,000 of its $500,000 goal at time of writing. It has 14 days remaining to secure its goal, and has restructured its reward tiers to reflect the late additions.

So you can just add two whole platforms and promise that they aren’t just going to be “straight ports” but you haven’t changed the amount of money you’re asking?
How does that work out? They’re just going to make those versions for free?

Maybe they intended to do it from the getgo but didnt communicate it. Getting 500k with an iOS only title wouldnt work out, so they HAD to go the PC/Mac route, to reach that goal and the media attention. Either way, I think its not done in a good way and find it somewhat irritating.

What #2 says makes sense. Though they were a little corporate in how they handled this, as I’ve seen others handle it better. That may come back to bite them a bit. (See #1′s response.)
