Vox Games has announced its name will become Polygon when it launches its website later this year.

The new name for the site, founded by Verge parent Vox Media and featuring ex-Joystiq staff and ex-Kotaku editor in chief Brian Crecente, was announced at a PAX East panel.

Its also announced the hiring of four new staff members to the site: ex-1UP writer Matt Leone as its deputy features editor, Tracey Lien of Kotaku Australia as senior AU reporter, recently departed Game Informer writer Phil Kollar becomes deputy reviews editor and Videogamer MMO writer Emily Gera as senior UK reporter.

Gera announced earlier today she was leaving the site in a blog post on the site.

The official launch of Polygon is still down for just 2012, but will remain posting on The Verge for now. Grats to those joining the site.
