Sony’s rumoured brawler may be called PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Wednesday, 4th April 2012 02:10 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Remember that Smash Bros-like title supposedly in the works at Sony? Here’s more slim evidence of its existence.

PlayStation Lifestyle received a tip off that Sony is circulating a survey about the game, in which it asks for a judgement on the title PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

The survey has not been verified.

Last time the game turned up, it was supposed to be in development at Superbot – something the evidence certainly supports – and had the working name Title Fight. An image of Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth as he would appear in-game was unearthed, along with several other telling clues.

Several sites have reported that sources have confirmed the game’s existence, but nothing concrete has appeared. Keep your eyes peeled at E3.

Thanks, GameInformer.

    This is retarded.

This game can only make top tier fighting studio. Sony does not have them.

I hope this works out. I can see a lot of people getting mad at how similar it could be to smash bros. so I’m wondering what they’ll do to differentiate it. But count me in on being excited about it :)

Also, has this company made any other games before or what, I don’t recall ever hearing about them prior to this.

A survey by sony but anyone notice the xbox controller on top?
Besides how credible is someone who takes a cropped and angled pic of a computer screen with a camera instead of prtscr?

This picture wasn’t from Sony, it said it was a survey sent out to people. And maybe this person wasn’t the brightest or something I don’t know. It seems kind of off for somebody to be joking around with this especially after all of the other supposed leaks.

Like I said in the article, and in fact emphasised – the survey was not verified.

I am close to convinced this is a genuine real thing though. (Edit: as in, the game, not the survey.)

    LAZY name.

This type of naming reminds me of that South Park episode “Imaginationland” where US army plans to nuke the Imagination land. Name of their mission? “Operation Nuke the Imaginationland Through the Imaginationlad Doorway” or something.

If this is true, i wonder if Sony will bother to release it on PS3. What with the PS4 rumoured for late 2013, seems like they may as well just hold on a bit and make it a launch title.

At least Title Fight had the fact it was a pun going for it. This name is reminiscent of the shift from Heroes on the Move to PlayStation Move Heroes, going from something that required a modicum of thought to a title so bland I’m surprised I managed to recall it for this post.

    Super Smash FRIENDS.

    Super Smash CLASH.

    Super Smash COUSINS.

    Super Smash LEGENDS.

    Super Smash HEROS.

    Super JUST-LIKE Smash Bros.

    ?

Nothing wrong with doing a game like this. But yea, gonna be some folks that are gonna see it ripping off Nintendo. And really it kind of is. But not like this type of thing does happen all of the time. Move = WiiMotion controls. Sonic All Star racing = Mario Kart. Crash Bandicot had his own Kart game. Copying happens all of the time in video games.

Honestly I don’t see Sony being able to make this a big hit. The cartoon aproach to Smash Bros is one of the things that make it work. Also the chars lend themself to that over the top goofyness that works. Mario vs Link vs Bowser vs Fox works great. Nate vs Kratos, I don’t think has the same charm. Sonys line up is too serious to fit in a game like that.

But maybe the game will be something differen’t. Having an aproach that will bring it together.
