UK charts: Mass Effect 3 goes top

Mass Effect 3 has taken the top spot in this week’s UK chart.

The BioWare RPG is the biggest launch in the UK this year so far, outselling the past four number ones – Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, UFC Undisputed 3, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and SSX – combined.

Week one numbers for ME3 have also beaten sales numbers for Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 combined.

Find the top ten for the week ending March 10 below. Last week’s data can be found here.

The other biggest new entry is Street Fighter x Tekken at three.

  • 1 – Mass Effect 3
  • 2 – SSX
  • 3 – Street Fighter x Tekken
  • 4 – FIFA 12
  • 5 – Mario Party 9
  • 6 – The Sims 3: Showtime
  • 7 – Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics
  • 8 – Modern Warfare 3
  • 9 – Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
  • 10 – Zumba Fitness

Well, that’s positive. Hopefully GAME vanishing won’t be quite the disaster everyone thought. Street Fighter wasn’t stocked in GAME either.

@1 Indeed.

I think this kind of proves that people hardly shop at GAME and that the world will still be round, once GAME crumbles.

What i don’t get is that Mass Effect 2 was better reviewed and was indeed a fantastic game, but that game dropped to £20 in the space of a week or so, i just assumed that Mass Effect was not big over here in the UK? Surely i’m wrong in my assumption. How is it all of a sudden a massive selling game? most of the people i know (who are quite frankly, Fifa and CoD peoples) have literally no interest in this game at all. It’s baffling tbh.

I do think that this game will drop to £20 in a couple of weeks.
