Edgadget has posted a look at the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and in the video, the site shows you how Xbox Live will be incorporated into the OS.

Major Nelson has also said the preview includes games, video, music and Xbox companion applications with the later being “just a taste of the features that we’ll be delivering at launch.”

The consumer preview launches today. Watch the video below and the Major has official screens of it, which we have also added below.

I think I´m gonna test this on my other computer but as it looks now I will probably stick with windows 7 until windows 9. The metro interface feels like it´s pasted on windows 8. Can´t explain it any better. And i really don´t see how i will be able to do things in a fast motion, this os looks like it´s only made for touch screens and not for the mouse and keyboard.

That’s the Microsoft curse for you.

Essentially, you get a good version of Windows following a bad one.

95 – Experimental and buggy. (Bad)
    98 – A polished, streamlined version of 95. (Good)
Me – The horror, the horror… (Bad)
XP – The first truly DOS-independent OS from Microsoft. (Good.)
Vista – A nasty, bloated mess of a thing, and experimental. (Bad.)
7 – Stripped down, streamlined, polished, and optimised. (Good.)
8 – Experimental, junk tacked on that you don’t want. (Bad.)
    9 – Not sure, but… (Likely Good)

Pssh. With modding the PC is still as viable a source of gaming as ever. Don’t create a Console Master Race, now. No one wants that.

Y U CHANGE FONT? Seriously, this new font is horribly unreadable, you had the perfect font before. For the articles and the comments… this new font is punishing for me as a person with poor sight. (Not something I can fix with glasses.)

    Edit: Wait, really… ?

The terribad font only shows up if I allow scripts? Okay. So noted! I allowed them for that video and the fonts became horrible. I just disallowed them again and the fonts are back to being lovely and readable.

    Interesting.

@3 – absolutely right on the mark with that list. Me was great though, it taught you how to reinstall operating systems, constantly……
I got a free copy of Windows 7 ultimate, and unless I get a free Copy of Windows 8, i cant see myself using it. This metro interface just looks terrible. Unless MS allows a real desktop and start menu, or a third party releases one, I cant see myself using it.
I remember when I used to support Mac OS7 through OS9, I used to get annoyed with it not having a command prompt/File mangler. This will be similar in that I know i will be annoyed not having a typical desktop.
