Warriors mania: Strikeforce 2 HD, Susanoo, VS, 3 Z PSP

The latest issue of Famitsu has dropped a ton of information on KOEI's Warriors franchise, revealing release dates, characters, HD remakes and a PSP version of Samurai Warriors 3 Z.

Samurai Warriors 3 Z Special

KOEI Tecmo announced in the latest Famitsu it would release Samurai Warriors 3 Z on PSP under the name Samurai Warriors 3 Z Special. It will contain the same content as the console release, and those who own a disc copy can unlock all the portable game's characters automatically if PS3 save data is present, including any downloadable costume content.

Samurai Warriors 3 Z Special is scheduled for release in Japan on February 16, and since the original still hasn't released in the west, it's unlikely this one will leave Japan either.

Dynasty Warriors VS

Dynasty Warriors VS for 3DS has been given a tentative release date of March 2012 in Japan, according to Famitsu. VS is exactly how it sounds: a versus game where players control up to three characters per stage against four other players before moving on to the next stage.

There's no word on whether this will leave Japan or not, and like Samurai Warriors 3, it's highly unlikely.

Susanoo to appear in Warriors Orochi 3

Susanoo has been announced for Warriors Orochi 3. Susanoo slayed the eight-headed serpent Yamata no Orochi. No word on whether he'll be packing his legendary sword or not, but if the picture of him in Famitsu is any indication, it looks promising.

Warriors Orochi 3 is set for a December 22 release in Japan on PS3 and Xbox 360, and while a western release has been hinted at, one has yet to be announced.

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce 2 gets HD port

Finally, the next Warriors game has been revealed as an HD remastered version of Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce 2 for PS3, known in Japan as Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid 2.

A second entry into the firm's PSP Remaster series, the game will contain upgraded graphics, and save data from the PSP version can be transferred over to PS3. Players can also compete through ad-hoc multiplayer between the PSP and PS3 versions.

The one kicker is that original characters from Strikeforce 2 will not be appearing in the multiplayer.

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce 2 HD is set for release in Japan sometime in 2012.

Massive thanks to KOEI Warriors for all the information.
