Splash Damage boss: “We’re not working with Disney”
Splash Damage boss Paul Wedgwood has said reports of the studio working on a game based on a “major entertainment brand” are “inaccurate.”

An IndustryGamers article today, penned by GamesIndustry editor Matt Martin as a spotlight on seven UK developers, said the project was based on “one of the biggest American pop culture brands of the last 50 years.”
It added that its online multiplayer tech was ready thanks to a “polished” version of the engine used to power Brink.
Instant chatter this morning suggested the game was a Marvel project being made for Disney.
But this afternoon, studio CEO Wedgwood has taken to Twitter to say the information in the piece was “inaccurate.”
“Fun watching Industry Gamers/Eurogamer post massively inaccurate stories, just because we refused to comment. And why should we?” he said in one tweet.
When asked further if the info was wrong, Wedgwood confirmed to VG247 via another tweet it was.
“We’re not working with Disney,” he said. “We’re not building a pop culture IP. We’re only using BRINK tech for BRINK updates at the moment.”
Splash Damage released Brink, a dystopian FPS published by Bethesda, back in May for PS3, 360 and PC.

I’d go with Walt D as well.
And also – “It goes on to say that its online multiplayer tech is ready thanks to a “polished” version of the engine used to power Brink.”, by ‘polished’ I suppose what they really mean is ‘finished’ yeah?

Given this comment – ““one of the biggest American pop culture brands of the last 50 years.”, I can’t imagine it being LucasArts given that they haven’t been in business that long, but the Marvel/Disney connection makes sense given how long they’ve been around and their pop culture standings.
Ditto for how fucking poorly they have treated their console development studios too.

Yeah, the “a company widely believed to have given up on the console publishing business.” part screams Disney, the movie company that got into gaming, ate some great studios and released a great title like Split/Second, only to kill most of those studios and go after stupid facebook games.
They can learn a lot from another movie company that got into game: Warner. They’ve already released 2 awesome games in 2011 (Mortal Kombat and Batman AC) and are publishing Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 and Lolipop Chainsaw game from Suda 51′s company.

So basically they screwed the pooch on Brink, and now it’s time to make amends.

Wow. SD boss Paul Wedgwood just told me on Twitter it isn’t working on a new game with Disney, and that the IG info was “inaccurate.”
