Elite seeing “bottleneck” due to registrant influx

Tuesday, 8th November 2011 13:48 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Call Of Duty: Elite, the new stat-tracking service which launched aside Modern Warfare 3, is having a bit of an issue with so many folks trying to register at once.

According to an official post on the matter from Beachhead boss Chacko Sonny, registration requests for the service are “exceeding” the firm’s “most optimistic expectations” and creating a “bottleneck” causing some players the inability to register with the service.

“We have already registered hundreds of thousands of players and we are working around the clock to increase our capacity as quickly as possible,” he said.

Beachhead has said users encountering registration issues should check for updates through the above link, or follow the service on Twitter for status updates.

“Please be assured your gameplay data is safe and that whenever you successfully register for Call of Duty Elite, all of your data will be waiting for you,” Sonny said. “we assure you we are working around the clock to accommodate every player who wants to be a part of Call of Duty Elite as quickly as possible.”

Modern Warfare launched at midnight, and you can look over review scores here.

I hate you all so much. Every single last person that buys into this. Its like your hastening along another video game crash. Actually wait that would be a good thing.

    Carry on!

    Same thing like with Battlelog.

All these ideas like ELITE or Battlelog are C R A P. But with this one, not every service will be for free.

Battlelog is probably easier to update than to keep patching in game menu’s for a game?

@5, yeah right… you forgot that you need to update stupid Battlelog APP every time.

I don’t know what it is with the year 2011, but it seems like the games industry has collectively forgotten how to put together online components.

Damn, and there was a certain VG247 reader expecting a flawless fully operational service on day one.

I hope he doesn’t choke too violently on his own BS.

@8 He’s probably preparing excuses as we speak.

@Ireland – I too am anxiously awaiting his rebuttal as well… This should be interesting.

However, you and I both know that the COD kids that where shitting on Battlelogs difficulties will give excuse after excuse for this, and it will magically be “not an issue”.

    You guys are pure comedy!

    I’ve been playing MW3, actually.

    Couple of quick points.

    1. There’s a difference between not being able to play the actual game that you just paid money for, and not being able to use a free service that’s actually a completely seperate program to a game.

    2. Even though this is free, even though I’m too busy playing the game and enjoying it to really notice, I’m still disappointed that Elite isn’t working properly.

Even though the SP, the coop and the MP that came on the disc that I paid money for are all working pretty much flawlessly as designed, I’m disappointed that Beachhead couldn’t plonk this great big cherry on the top of the cake and make the whole thing a lot sweeter.

So if this continues, you will see me complaining.

Although it’s difficult to find a strong sense of annoyance about a free, not really needed, extra service not working properly when everything else actually does…

Thanks for thinking of me, though.

Gotta get back to online gaming! (That actually works)
