Future Games of London has announced its Hungry Shark mobile franchise has a 25 million user base.
Eight weeks ago, the number stood at 20 million, and the latest round of growth has been attributed to adopting a freemium model along with the success of Hungry Shark Night.
“The continuing growth of our network and success of in-app purchasing is further proof that the freemium model is working well for us and for our users,” said Ian Harper, studio MD. “Grabatron will probably be our final traditional, paid for game, as it wasn’t designed for freemium. After that we expect all of our games to be freemium.”
Hungry Shark has been downloaded 24 million times since April 2010, and US users make up 30 percent, compared to 10 percent in the UK, and Japan and Germany claiming 8 and 7 percent, respectively. Thanks, GI.biz.
