Adhesive has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming multiplayer mech-combat game Hawken. The trailer throws some light on the story of the game, as well as featuring gameplay footage showing mechs fighting each other and contains a beautiful background score. The game’s looking pretty good. Adhesive’s also confirmed that another trailer for the game is due at the end of this week. The downloadable title is in development for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but has no date yet. Watch the trailer below.

Look absolutely brilliant! I’m also loving that brilliant score by the way.

Indie games usually have crap graphics but great art styles… this seems to have gone the other way.

Couldn’t disagree more. This looks to have a fantastic engine and a grand art style. To be honest, I wish Mirror’s Edge had had this sort of artistic talent behind its cities. And just look at the more organic mechs, a lot of artistic development has gone into designing those.

There’s a quotient of artistic talent here that I find lacking in AAA games, and going by looks alone it’s miles ahead of any AAA game I’ve played recently.

It’s Unreal Engine. They just happend to have discoverd that even though you use the technology of GoW you don’t also have to ape the art style of GoW. Now if everybody else using the engine would also realize that, we could have some amazing looking games.
