Tales studio head gives good and bad news

Namco Bandai has no plans to bring the Wii version of Tales of Graces to the West, but it is considering HD ports of older games in the series.

"We wish to deliver the best and most complete experience for US and European fans, therefore we're localizing Tales of Graces f," Makoto Yoshizumi told Kingdom of Tales.

"The game on the PS3 version is on a blu-ray disc. It would be next to impossible to condense all the game's data on a Wii disc, so unfortunately, there will be no Wii release."

Asked about the original Wii version of the game, Yoshizumi deflected the question,

Although confirmed for a November 10 launch in PAL territories the Tales studio leader also said that European language options for Tales of the Abyss are "still under discussion" - bad news for non-English speakers, perhaps.

Tales fans are used to doom and gloom, as the series has been only very patchily transported outside Japan, but Yoshizumi offered one ray of sunshine when asked if there's any chance of older entries being revamped.

"This is something we would like to do and we are currently working to see if it would be possible to port older Tales games: Phantasia, Destiny, or Eternia, not only in Japan, but throughout the world," he said.

"However, I still can't give much information about this. We are still discussing about whether this project can be done and on which game console those ports would be made."

Thanks, GoNintendo.
