Halo 4 announced, confirmed for holiday 2012

Microsoft’s formally announced Halo 4 at the end of its press conference, confirming it for a holiday 2012 launch.

The game, which sees the return of Master Chief and AI companion Cortana, is being made by 343 Industries, and is the start of a brand new trilogy.

The trailer showed Chief been waken from an articifical sleep, as shown at the end of Halo 3, with the ship they were in exploding and heading towards an even bigger ship.

And that’s your lot. Trailer’s below. More soon.

So 50 comments in & no thoughts on who the badguys might be? I’m hoping for something new, if they wheel out the Flood again…. :(

I dont think we’ll see any Covenant.

We might find some Forerunner though, after all the Arc was outside our galaxy and some could have escaped to there then moved on..

Halo has a great and detailed story behind it and is definitely one of the better FPS games out there, not to mention one of the more interesting ones, since it isn’t just another brown&bloom pseudo-realistic modern military fps.
I’m looking forward to both Halo Anniversary (never finished CE) and Halo 4. I just hope they don’t nerf Halo CE’s magnum.

Honestly to everyone complaining saying “Halo isn’t good…. now gears of war on the other hand…” Is nothing more than an ignorant person. You do realize you are on a HALO topic related portion of the site right? Halo has if not, one of THE BIGGEST fan base, WELL over gears of wars’. The only reason you’re here and you’re a GoW > Halo person is because you’re a pathetic cry baby mad about the fact the majority of actual gamers choose to play the game they like instead of the shit you like; get the hell over it and grow up. Then for the fact you say they’re just milking the Halo series, i’ll agree to you to an extent, but also we need to realize the gift microsoft is giving us. They made a new group especially FOR Halo, they’re giving the fans EXACTLY what they want; MASTER CHIEF, NOT ONE Halo fan would ever want to see the series end without such a great iconic figure go out with a TREMENDOUS bang. I personally thank Microsoft for not ending the series, and I do have complete faith in them keeping up with the games forfathers.
