Prey 2 E3 trailer goes live-action

Friday, 3rd June 2011 08:06 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Bethesda’s aired the E3 trailer for Prey 2, going along the live-action route for the trailer.

Picking up from where the debut trailer had left off, we see main character Killian Samuels on the plane from the first movie within the midst of the plane wreckage on the planet of Exodus.

The trailer is very similar to what we were shown at Bethesda’s pre-E3 event in Utah back in April, only it was in-game. This trailer shows off many elements of the Human Head shooter, including the parkour and the self-pronounced alien noir.

Watch the movie below. Prey 2 launches in 2012 for PS3, 360 and PC.

I hate pre-rendered trailers, but I’m digging the vibe of this one.

Hopefully the game turns out good, I like what I’ve heard about it so far.

Calling it Prey 2 seems a mistake though.

Ok. I’m lost. How does this connect to the first one?

    Ermm…

I think the story is that during the invasion that took Tommy in the first one, the aliens took the new protagonist. The new guy is taken to a planet popularised by tons of different alien types; the game takes place years later after he’s settled in and adapted as a bounty hunter.

Rumour has it Tommy appears somehow, somewhere in the game, but the developers are trying to set the two games apart.

Which is why I’m baffled that they are calling it ‘Prey 2′. Sure that will cut into sales? People who didn’t get on board with the original game will worry that they are missing vital story elements, and won’t buy the game. A title akin to ‘Prey: subtitle’ would make more sense, to me.

Yeah, it’s very well-done and cleverly disguised to look like it’s live-action, but it’s definitely not.

Brilliant music choice! Now to fervently hope that the game itself can deliver even a fraction of the excitement this trailer generates.

Erm… might want to change the title, because this is not a live action trailer.

Very nicely done CG, although for all the connections it has to the original they may have been better off announcing a new IP.

At some parts it is imho. Check the last few secs where they show our characters face from the bottom side. That can’t be cg.

Marketing departement probably wanted something with a 2 behind the name to make it sound sequelish, the developer wanted to do a new IP.
So the writer made a silly exuse so both could be happy and boom: Prey 2 is born.

No complaints though, this looks pretty cool!

I agree. A potentially great game in the making (bladerunner type fun) but the title does seem odd.
