Sony dev site going by “Vita” name uncovered
Sony has registered the domain name: vita.scedev.net and the website shows Sony’s current gaming platforms available in the market asbwell as information about the company.

The website also has the following disclaimer announcing that it’s wholly owned by SCE.
“The Developer Network sites are owned and managed by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc and its affiliates.”
If that was not enough, the domain name ngp.scedev.net is also registered by Sony and produces the exact same website that you’ll land on by visiting the earlier domain.
This strongly suggests that Sony are planning to use to name Vita for something, and very possibly as the official name for the NGP.
PS Vita was rumoured to be the official name chosen by Sony for the NGP earlier in the week by various sources.

Sony, please… Don’t call it Vita.
It’s super retarded.

@1
If this was any other product, nobody would bat an eyelid at the name ‘vita’. Example: a new smartphone, the ‘Samsung Vita’.
There’s not much in a name anyway. I’d happily buy a product called the ‘Playsation fuckfister’ if it was a good bit of kit, and had good games.
Also, are we pronouncing this ‘Vee-ta’ or ‘Vie-ta’? I’m more inclined to think the latter, due to ‘vie-tality’.

The market analysts speculate NGP might be dead on arrival, due to huge competition of mobile phones in the mobile gaming market, and now Sony adds another nail in the coffin by calling it “Vita”.
I will definitely buy NGP, but will have a problem going to a shop and saying “I’d like to buy Vita”.
Then again, “Vita” meaning “life” might suggest Sony is trying to tell you “Get a life”

@Erthazus
So you must have a serious problem with Nintendo’s system bro. Did you know the original name for the Nintendo Wii was “Revolution”? Now, I think we all can agree that the name “Wii” is a pretty bad name for anything. So calm down bro, it’s not that serious. Besides, the name is not any less retarded than the bullshit that you spread on this site on a day to day basis when there is any news about Sony.

@4, “Then again, “Vita” meaning “life” might suggest Sony is trying to tell you “Get a life””
ahaha
I expect hillarious adds.
Kevin Butler: Get a “life”, BIA-ATCH!
“The market analysts speculate NGP might be dead on arrival, due to huge competition of mobile phones in the mobile gaming market, and now Sony adds another nail in the coffin by calling it “Vita”. ”
Not true at all. first of all NGP is a gaming system. It’s not a mobile platform and NGP is going to have AAA titles while Mobile phones not so much.

Ohgodd no.
Vita is a totally sucky name.
Then again everyone said the same about the Wii but now we have all gotten used to it and its fine.
But Wii was a whole new word people had to get used too. Vita is just no good.
Imagine saying to someone, “do you have a vita?”
it just does not work

@7 well thats what sony want! using “casual” name will make device to less hardcore which can add appeal to “casual” market.
hardcore market dont really care the name and as long there is game they will buy

I repeat my question: How can’t you feel stupid asking for a “xbox”, a “megadrive” etc?
Who doesn’t speak english buys them with no problem, but you?
