No lead platform with MW3, says Infinity Ward

Infinity Ward’s said on Twitter it doesn’t have a lead platform for Modern Warfare 3.

Speaking to a user in a tweet, comms boss Rob Bowling said that the studio was developing each version together.

“We don’t have lead platforms, we develop each version alongside each other. Xbox 360 is running at same as PS3,” he said.

He also added that, like before in the series, the game will be at 60FPS. Everyone wins.

MW3 launches on November 8 for PS3, 360 and PC. Watch the first trailer here.

So they won’t be appearing at the Microsoft conference at E3 and announcing temporary exclusive deals on the DLC this time, then? :-D

Another lie like with “We moved beyond our engine”?

@1, since last year till 2012 All COD exclusive content is first on Xbox 360. So… Go figure.

There you have it, another console port: “We don’t have lead platforms, we develop each version alongside each other. Xbox 360 is running at same as PS3,”

Sad that a pc exclusive game series got turned into this…

He doesn’t even mention the PC version :S.

Like before it will be at 60FPS? They aspire to a consistent 60FPS – it has a max of 60fps – but it doesn’t actually achieve that consistently. In fact it’s well below that in some instances. (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-modern-warfare-2-face-off?page=3)

One of those tweets is just wrong on a couple of levels …

“Incorrect. It will be locked at 60 FPS which means it will never go below it, its can always go above 60 FPS.”

Locked at 60fps means locked, so no it can’t go above it either. Aside from which he is specifically referencing the console versions which will be played on TVs which won’t go above 60Hz either.

“Xbox 360 is running at same as PS3″
what does that even mean?

@Dralen, i have a question. “Who gives a flying fuck” when PC is the lead platform for Battlefield 3? That supports the highest rigs available with 64 players and giant maps.

I mean… At this rate they could just cancel the PC version of MW3, no one would care anyway.

Not that many of you will care as Erthazus put it. But it looks like they’ve also raised the price of the PC version yet again. It’s now around the same price you would expect to pay for a brand new console game. That’s just ridiculous for a yearly update title.

Though it’s nice to hear that there’s supposedly no favoritism amongst development on platforms, it still doesn’t change on who gets first dibs on content ….xbox 360 pointing 2 thumbs up at itself….this guy.

Currently the CoD games are only second to Counter-Strike on Steam, with each of the games easily outdoing anything else on the market, so I think plenty of people will care, even if the 360 is the native territory.

This is just PR herp derp though. It might be an easy way to get a post on a website like this, but it’s pretty pointless information. Pandering to peoples platform sensibilities is an easy way to avoid actually talking about your game.

It has gotten to the point where I don’t care how many squillions of copies of CoD sell. Lady Gaga sells like mad too, and I won’t listen to that. CoD is CoD, it is what it is. I enjoy something else more, so I play that. As long as enough people play that other game I enjoy so we have full games, I am a happy gamer.

@1 not having a lead platform has nothing to do with people working out side deals for DLC exclusivity or presenting for a certain company during E3…I would not be surprised if they are once again part of Microsoft’s press conference

@3 were you asleep for the past 5-6 years…the first title was the only one exclusive to PC…since CoD2 every single game in the series has been on 360…
