Namco to continue “pushing” Enslaved in the marketplace

Tuesday, 17th May 2011 20:38 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Namco Bandai has said it has plans to “keep pushing” the Enslaved franchise even though Ninja Theory doesn’t have a sequel in the works, currently.

Speaking in a recent podcast with Eurogamer, Namco’s UK marketing manager Lee Kirton said the firm is “still very much behind,” the game.

“We’ve got plans as to where we want to take Enslaved, we want to keep on pushing… maybe to a market that hasn’t experienced it yet,” he said. “We currently have no plans for an Enslaved sequel. However, we are still looking at it.”

Namco has said in the past it felt Enslaved would have been better received at retail had it been given a different release window.

“It’s disappointing since it could have and should have done more,” Kirton added.

Namco’s recent financials have the game selling 730,000 units worldwide.

Better learn from your mistakes, Namco. It’s your fault alone that this game is not as successful as it deserves to be.

#1 i think you are right, they just let die this game among the other big releases in the same period, without any strong advertisement campain.

Presentation is good, story is a little wiffy but gameplay is dull and almost non existant. You may find such simplistic offerings enjoyable but I do not. It’s boring. It lacks actual game and is just plain bad.

#7 i didnt find the gameplay dull at all, it was very action heavy and the combat was great and in the higher difficulties very hard, well different strokes i guess, but i did like it a lot, keep fingers crossed for the second part, by the way i think the rating on metracritic is above 80, i know this has anything to do with being a good game or whatnot , because is the reviewers perspective, but it saids that did a lot of things good IMO

Game was terrible and publisher didn’t hyped it much from the start. they did a solid marketing campaign and even supported it with DLC.

this trend in this generation is quite disturbing. Crappy Game = blame the publisher.

Combat system was ASS for a hack and slash game (gameplay is also trash), terrible story in my opinion. Just romantic story for Twilight fans, ok visuals.
I liked cinematic set pieces, but i really don’t care about them in hack and slash adventure titles. What i really want in Hack and slash adventure titles are mechanics only and it failed to deliver me a gameplay.

    thats my opinion on it.

It is a terrible game. It’s platforming is basically one way. Once you climb certain things you can’t back down for almost no apparent reason. You can only climb bits the game says you can, which are highlighted for you and if you want to do something outside the strict rules of Enslaved’s platforming the game kindly informs you to go fuck yourself.

Cool. I liked it a bit but it had its flaws, ESPECIALLY the ending. God that was hilariously shoddy.

@9: You opinion is invalid, since – as you already said yourself – you have only played the demo. If you’ve actually played the game then your comparison to the story of Twilight leads me to believe that you didn’t understand half of it. Which – knowing you and the comments you make here – does sound more plausible.

@10: It would help if you actually understand who the target audience is. My girlfriend for example you doesn’t play many videogames, she could just pick it up and play it. She’s really bad at videogames mind you, but she could play it without problems and enjoy the beautiful art-direction and the unique story.

Having that said i do agree that the game was holding your hand way too many times. If they ever make Enslaved 2, they better try to expand the target audience and allow experience gamers some fun.

I’d say i rather play games like these than Bayonetta.

i thought that the best thing i could say about this game was that it was awful i thought it tried to do too many things and ended up doing none of them very well at all. and as for an actor being game director well that really says just about everything that needs to be said
