Megaman Universe canned by Capcom

Capcom’s just announced it has canned development on Megaman Universe.

An apology and notice of cancellation was posted on the game’s website. An exact reason wasn’t posted other than just “various circumstances.”

Megaman Universe was a 2.5D platform title that was supposed to release on PSN and Xbox Live, with its main point being player-created content from purely original levels to edited levels in the game, which was based on Megaman 2.

Said player-made levels could also be shared online. Never more.

Thanks, GAF.

It seems clear that Capcom is ditching all Inafune’s lousy project one by one. Frank West was removed from Marvel VS Capcom 3 as soon as he resigned from his position, the reason was “the character does not suite the game”. It looks like nobody really liked the idea, they were somehow forced to add Frank to MvsC roster.

I hope they’ll do the same with DmC.

@2 yeah and just look at megaman also “not suited for fighting game” bs. He’s been in every vs capcom game and now they remove him and replace him with zero? They must be really angry with inafune

@3 actually Zero was created by Inafune, Megaman is the creation of another guy.

If they cancel fucking Megaman Legends 3 then I am done.

I am already on the edge about DMC, the only reason why I think it would work is Ninja Theory hasn’t made a bad game yet.

:( This was the one with the advert showing Megaman in different looks, yeah? The one for which we didn’t see more than concepts. Still, too bad.

well the creator is gone and not there to direct and supervise the game therefore they had to cancel that sh*.

Anyway there are two more Megaman coming.

Megaman World and Megaman Anni

I thought the look of Megaman was cool in this, but the backgrounds were too plain and 8bit looking. Needed to be more like Sonic 4.

@4 Considering it’s being supervised by the same guy who revived the franchise with DMC3, NT’s past is no longer relevant. But yeah, I’m mad over this.

@6 There’s gameplay of it out there, not just the animated trailer That was first announced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7_QhuUHhu8

@10 Yeah but you never know how much fun it would of been till you get your hands on it.

Still though, it sucks it’s been canned. I was actually looking forward to this one myself honestly. Kind of like a mario x little big planet type from what I saw.
