Nikkei: Japan’s initial 400,000 3DS shipment sold out

Monday, 28th February 2011 09:26 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Nikkei’s said today that Japan received an initial shipment of 400,000 3DS units over the weekend, all of which have now been sold.

Nintendo plans to sell 1.5 million systems for Japan and 4 million worldwide by the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year on March 31.

Japan was the first territory to receive the glassless 3D handheld last weekend.

3DS will release in Europe on March 25 and in the US on March 27.

Thanks, Andriasang.

Retailers are currently saying it’s in stock again as they’d taken shipments which should be arriving today.

I guess Nintendo’s playing the whole supply and demand game to toy with consumers.

Typeface @1, well while i agree with you, that these may seem as a offer and demand game, lets not forget that these numbers are as high as a current gen sales for a month period, so i think there is also a bit of underperformance about it.
