Schappert: Mobile connectivity more important than 3D

Thursday, 3rd February 2011 01:47 GMT By Brenna Hillier

John Schappert has nominated cross-platform inter-connectivity and social features as a higher priority for EA than rushing to adopt 3D

Gamasutra reports the COO’s comments from yesterday’s Q3 results.

“While there’s no doubt that our industry will have its ‘Avatar’, where 3D is a defining aspect of the game … I’m mostly interested, with all the mobile devices that are coming out, in how they’re being connected to one another and how the same IP is shared over the top,” Schappert said.

“I think that’s actually a bigger driver for EA and the industry in the near term.”

Schappert’s also commented on the game deliver possibilities inherent in IPTV services such as GoogleTV.

Thanks, IndustryGamers.

So in theory they are more interested in ngp than 3ds, so why they aren’t in the ngp’s developer list?

Sony & EA have been huge pals within the pass 15 years, I can’t imagine EA ignoring the NGP all of a sudden. & I’d imagine the fifa games being one of the PSP’s biggest selling franchises. But other than Fifa & a few racing ports, EA hasn’t seemed terribly keen on any portable device other than mobile phones.
