Wolfenstein 1D eschews regular dimensions

20110126wolfenstein1d

Everyone too young to remember what a revolution Wolfenstein 3D was should probably check out this startling de-make, Wolfenstein 1D. Yes. One. Maybe the mind-boggling reduction of a fully realised game world to a single-pixel line will give you some idea of the amazement we felt at the time.

You'll need to squint at the monitor to discern what's going on in the game, but it's fully playable. You can have a go yourself it here.

This is the second de-make to hit the headlines this week, with Halo 2600 firing hearts and loins in cartridge form. Wolfenstein itself has seen an unofficial remake as a custom LittleBigPlanet 2 level.

Thanks, Gamesradar.
