GFI announces Cannon Fodder 3 for PC and 360 for Russia-only release

Russian developer GFI has just announced it’s making Cannon Fodder 3 for both PC and Xbox 360 in association with Codemasters.

Unfortunately, Codemasters has confirmed the game won’t release outside the CIS and Russia.

“In 2008 Codemasters licensed the Cannon Fodder IP to GFI ( for a one-title project,” said a rep.

“Under the agreement, GFI is designing and developing a new game based on the series for release in Russia and the CIS territories. Codemasters understands that GFI’s plans for distribution and release outside of Russia and the CIS have yet to be announced.”

GFI put out the following press release this morning:

Cannon Fodder 3

GFI announce development of the sequel to a well-known tactical action – Cannon Fodder 3

Several military groups of Europe, Asia and Africa have made a military alliance to establish dictatorship by joint efforts. Your goal is to stop them at any cost… Even with a price of thousands lives of soldiers named “cannon fodder”, who are ready to die everywhere and every time it’s needed. ‘Cause it’s their work.

You have a small army which consists of only “cannon fodder” soldiers, who are ready to rush into fight with the enemy, sparing neither effort nor oneself. The player will have to pass several episodes full of cartoon violence among different locations, and the Earth is not the limit – it’s time to go into open space and show the enemy “who’s daddy”.

You’ll get classic isometric environment in full 3D, weather effects, change of time, destructible environment, physical water – all this and a lot more you’ll find in Cannon Fodder 3.

Cannon Fodder 3 is currently under development for PC and Xbox 360 platforms under Codemasters’ license.

The original, John Hare-developed Cannon Fodder release in 1993.

Shame there’s no PS3 or Wii version, in my head pointer controls seem perfect.

    Presumably it’s a downloadable title?

Yeah, the Wii/Move controllers would work great for this. Still, nice to see the franchise return.

The original on iPad would be nice…

Step to it Mr. Hare before the memories are erased by another fumbled reimagining!

Memories. Like the corners of my mind. Misty water-colored memories. Of the way we were.

I’m sure it’ll be released over here as well, if it’s good.

Whoa blast from the past. I guess if it does well enough in Russia they might release it elsewhere.
