Enterbrain has released its yearly sales report for the Japanese videogame market, and it finds the industry as a whole down 9 percent in 2010 year-over-year.

From December 28, 2009 through December 26, 2010, the yearly sales total for the market was 493.66 billion yen, down 2009’s 542.64 billion. Hardware was the biggest loser compared to software, which fell 2.5 percent to 318.08 billion yen, while the former dropped 18.9 percent to 175.59 billion yen.

The top platform for the year was, of course, DS which topped PSP by 70K units. Wii was the console victor, edging out PS3.
