Turn 10 confirms Forza 4 will include Kinect support

forza 4 2

Microsoft and Turn 10 Studio’s newly-announced Forza 4 is to include support for Kinect.

The news was confirmed to IGN by an MS spokesman who said, “We showcased a Kinect-enabled project from Turn 10 Studios at E3 2010, which let players explore and experience their dream cars like never before.

“That tech demo demonstrated some of the experiences possible with Kinect and Forza.

“Forza Motorsport 4 brings together genre-defining, controller-based racing and the power and freedom of Kinect to create an automotive experience unlike anything before it.”

Forza 4 was one of many games revealed at the VGAs last night. You can catch all of our coverage from the event here.

First screens of Forza 4 from the game’s official website are below.

Using Kinect as a gaming peripheral is a pointless money sucking venture, should have designed it as a tv add on with it’s own games built in on a decent sized ssd or a small hdd with an Ethernet port for internet access to d/l software, but this is just my opinion, think what you will, don’t let my thoughts bother you, i just can’t imagine how they will use 3D tracking in core games, i could bet that most of Kinect’s games actually just track a silhouette, well the better ones atleast.

So if I push twice in the middle of the air, will the car horn go off?

So they basically confirmed that Forza 4 is not a racing simulation game? OK.

Be interesting in to see how they use this in a core game. Tacked on gimmick or a game improving feature? Time will tell I guess.

I’d settle for accurate head-tracking from interior view and Kinect as interface to view cars, customize, etc.

If it goes anywhere near the actual driving then I’ll be vary wary. I don’t mind any peripheral that adds value, but I’m not using an inferior one just to help a company grow it’s user base at the expense of the experience.

The head-tracking with Eye in GT5 seems a bit iffy for me so far so this would be an obvious thing to ‘one up’ for Forza.

It’ll probably be that as well as the “walk around” mode and some sort of arcade mode which auto accelerates / brakes for you whilst you steer.

I don’t give a shit about any of that crap though, as long as the car list is good, the track list is improved and keep iterating on the excellent community features they’ve got.

Here’s the box. http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/5533/fm4box.jpg I wonder why they didn’t add the “KINECT” logo at all… because it’s not the full support title?

it will be an improved forza 3 with kinect support.
so for us nothing changes.
for the casuals this becomes a must have title, especially for kinect owners, since they really dont have any game worth getting yet :P

@11 Isn’t EVERY SEQUEL just an improvement over the previous title? Pretty sure that’s the way it goes. “For the casuals…” LOL. What an ass.

@4: Forza Motorsport was never a racing simulator. They’re always been the arcady racing titles.

@13, Forza Motorsport was always a Semi-simulation Racing game.
There are a lot of good functions for the simulation stuff if you are in to it.

I am a GT5 fan or a fanboy if you can call me that. For sure GT5 is the most REALSTIC racing game on any console, but FM3 is still a great SIM/ARCADE racers, as well FM4 will be as well, but I doubt for now that it will be more realistic over GT5. They really need to extend the production time, and polish the physics way more. FM3 has steer aid thats always on, that really pissed me off.
