Sony has announced an update 1.4 for PlayStation Home, which will update the core client with new and revised features.

While Sony hasn’t listed the full list of what to expect, instead promising to reveal more next week, it did give PS3 users a taste of what’s to come over on the US PS Blog.

With the update, voice chat is coming back and users will also be able to form a group with up to eight people and chat “in both public and personal spaces”. Groups will have dedicated voice and text chat channels which will also be made available for clubs.

Wardrobe improvements are also coming wit version 1.4, allowing users to mark items as favorites, newly-acquired items will be marked accordingly, and options for “filtering and sorting” these  items will be added as well. A storage section is included in the wardrobe changes, which will allow users to load and browse their items faster.

Again, this is just a taste of what’s to come, so we’ll keep you updated as more changes are announced.

The update to Home, once it’s live on November 11, will not be an automatic update, but instructions on how to apply it will be posted next week.

It has to be said… Home is possibly the most embarassing failure of this gen.

Which is depressing really, because it means people are happy to spend millions on avatar clothes and items for virtual houses.

I don’t reckon its a failure. Its not as popular as Sony probably wanted at the start, but its got a community who use it. Whenever I’ve logged onto it, there is always a healthy amount of people on there. Plus like @2 said, its making a bit of dosh on the side.

the home artdesign is so terrible. it shows exactly what i don´t like about the ps3. it tries so very hard to be cool but mostly fails. no ps3 bashing here but this is really something they have to sort out next gen.

If you dont like home dont use it or play it. If you bash people who buy HOME stuff for real money, well its their money and their decisions (the players)

For me HOME is cool. I only spend about 10 dollars in game.
Also I love how I can meet with other people though there, makes chat with them seem like i was there with them, Its cool to have Gran Turismo Fan club there, and that you only meet people in that fan club that care about that particular HOME>

So if you do no enjoy HOME, try joining clubs, or make your own and walking around with friends is very cool.

Also its free by the way, so why not? I bet if this was Microsoft Home, they would charge you additional 10 bucks a year on top of Xbox Live Gold. It is what it is, deal with it

shut the fuck up u but hurt xbots. If something like home was on xbox 360, it would be used and liked by millions more than that of ps3. There’s cool shit to see on home, for when u want a break from gaming. Theres a reason why it makes sony millions!
