EA: MMA off to a “slow start”, but still “optimistic”

EA MMA has gotten off to a “slow start”, EA COO John Schappert revealed in the publisher’s Q2 financial call last night.

However, the company still remains “optimistic” about the mixed martial arts fighter.

“MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts game, launched with a great roster of fighters and innovative online features,” said Schappert.

“It’s off to a slow start, but we are optimistic that this one will find an audience of fight fans over the holidays.”

Announced as a new IP at E3 last year from EA Tiburon, EA MMA released last month for PS3 and 360.

The gameplay just offered nothing over UFC and the controls weren’t exactly intuitive or responsive… only thing it had going for it were different fighters.. not enough to warrant a purchase.

Even the UFC version sold less than the initial game.. People don’t want a game that the developers refuse to support post release. the first game was awful multiplayer wise with people rage quitting, and it being a laggy piece of shit. not to mention they didnt release a single new fighter for it, they didnt update the titles or fighters stats as they won or lost, no dlc aside from the pre order crap fighters they added, etc etc.
