Metzen on WoW movie: “We are going to do it right”
Did you think we were going to get some crappy tie-in for World of Warcraft with Sam Raimi at the realm? This is Blizzard we’re talking about.
Blizzard loremaster Chris Metzen just gave a status update on the WoW movie at a Blizzcon panel, saying it’s held meetings with Raimi about the flick and its story.
He added both Blizzard and Raimi were waiting for the official green light and see how its prioritsed compared to other projects from Raimi.
But Metzen did add the story was “bitchin’” before boldy proclaiming: “We are going to do it right.”
They aren’t going to fuck about, innit.

I like the story in SC2 ! Space cowboys, some crazy lady with mad hair, a posh nonce out to impress daddy…it’s got it all!

I’m pretty sure we’re going to get a crappy tie-in for World of Warcraft with Sam Raimi at the helm.
I mean, these things are relative – Blizzard’s stories aren’t bad for videogames. But they are deliberately cotton candy filler, unapologetically subject to the whims of gameplay systems designers. It’s hard to imagine a fantasy universe whose unifying conceit is “make the employer of its creators a crapload of money” is going to yield a moving yarn.
Let’s hope for ass-beating fantasy action film and keep our expectations realistic.

Please…. StarCraft I’s storyline was just as trite. Don’t give me this bullshit. It’s a video game. Don’t expect good plot lines.

It was a very good Sci-Fi story.

Than you sir never played a good game with a “Good story”. There are plenty of these games.
