Super Meat Boy to launch at discount price, will rise in Nov

supermeatboys

Super Meat Boy is currently basking in a warm critical reception ahead of its launch tomorrow. As a way of trying to entice a solid release for the brutally hard platformer, developer Team Meat has brokered a lower “price” with Microsoft, for October at least.

Super Meat Boy will launch on xbla ON SALE for 800 ms points! (that’s $10 bucks!) the sales for a limited time only and will go back up to our normal price of 1200 ms points in Nov.

The stated motivation: Team Meat wanted to show some love to their fans at Christmas, but figured a holiday price cut was a “kinda shitty thing to do to the fans who just bought it.”

Fair play. Check out some gameplay below.

Game looks stupidly fucking good, and with the deal on opening day it’s a guaranteed buy for me. This quicklook from giantbomb has got me insanely hyped for it: http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-super-meat-boy/17-3387/

Um, really hadn’t paid much attention to this, but the video suggests that this is just a game of jumping for a few seconds to rescue a piece of Tofu? And I assume that the jumps just get increasingly more difficult??

Sorry..HUGE PASS even at 800..I will be buying Costume Quest on XBLA Tomorrow not Meat Wad…I am having a hard time not buying Costume Quest right now on my PS3, but the wife has control of the controller and making me wait…Maybe I can sneak it out from under her pillow when she goes to sleep? What is wrong with owning Costume Quest on the PS3 and the 360??? Give me good arguments to give to the wifey!

I hope this works out well for them – it’d be nice to see more games giving an ‘early bird discount’.
