Kamiya hits out at DMC’s new Dante

Did Kamiya leave, or was he kicked out of the company? If he left by choice, he has no say in the matter whatsoever.

By the sound of it though, I don’t think he has any problem with the new design, just that he doesn’t want to think about Capcom. There’s probably a fair bit of bad blood there.

I would disagree. Bayonetta is or was crapola and I can’t judge on the new Dante or the game. Ninja Theory may actually make the series that much better.

@6 I thought Bayonetta was a breath of fresh air compared to Devil May Cry 4, which, quite frankly, was probably when the panic alarm was set off.

It’s brilliant to see they’re rebooting the series, although I’m not a big fan of the whole Dante redesign. I think that went a bit too far.

That said, other then that, I loved Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 2 was, in my book, alright. If anyone can set it straight, it has to be Ninja Theory.

They don’t need to refresh the main character, in this case Dante, just everything else.

Watch the trailer again, you would see that they have a living thing in them, maybe a demon? Not sure but these robots are more less cyborgs, with living and robotics working together.

@8 Thankyou Johnny for being a legend! That was exactly all that was needed. Dante himself didn’t need a redesign, he was awesome, just the gameplay itself needed to change.

devil may cry “1″ is still the best of the bunch by far!! and the character model in the first game was the most bad ass/ slickest character in gaming history. once they changed him the series went downhill.

Bayonetta set a new standard for action games anyway, hence I suppose the fans of previous Dmc entries should just move on and play his titles now.

Devil May Cry was a great, great series of games (except for the second one, which you have because you don’t want to jump from 1 to 3 or bought the collection). Everything was great about this games and it would be awful to see things distorted and destroyed because a younger and western studio is trying to make things better and because of the head of the project trying to sell more. Ok, maybe they need it, but not everyone will like it and I think it was a more precise and safer shot to continue the series where it was left. DMC4 was a BLAST, beautifully done and by far the best Devil May Cry game to the date. If this one screws the series…we will have other franchise that died in the number of death (4) because Japanese people handed the series to western hands. I’m praying this does not happen and if it does, at least we have a DEVIL MAY CRY 5 from Japanese Capcom hands that features, as I said before, coop, Dante, Nero, the girls, the world we are used to, the music we are used to… THERE IS NO NEED FOR REINVENTION WHEN THINGS ARE JUST PERFECT. Silent Hill didn’t need it, Devil May Cry didn’t need it (maybe a little in the camera and other tiny thing more technical than artistical)… Resident Evil needed it and the results were two fantastic, fun, immersive and hell of replayable games. I’m going to eat now.

Action was crazy LOOKING but was mediocre to play. I played in on 360 when it launched and wasnt impressed.

Actually the series needed it because majority of th team has moved on to different things. Konami has to find a new way to deliver the series and giving it to Western studios was just a test which obviously didn’t deliver. Hoping that the new one that was shown at E3 will do so.

O no dude, i get you. I understand completely but i just dont understand the taste for it by anyone is all. But again, too each his own.
I played it like any other game i play, better than most hard core gamers (games r natural too me. been playing them for 23yrs). I just didnt see the greatness that you guys have mentioned. Wasnt a bad game, just wasnt great to me. Id play part 2, just not untill its around $30.

@26 well, if I understand your comment correctly, you don’t see what’s so great about it’s gameplay being centered on fighting alone? see, sort of asking what makes Super Mario Galaxy so fun, or what’s so great about a deathmatch in a multiplayer fps..purely a matter of taste then I suppose.

It is just gonna get more confusing from here so lets just say “People like different things”

I enjoyed Bayonetta on a gameplay and challenge level, but almost everything else about the game either annoyed me hideously or I felt was just plain bad.

The characters were god awful. Every single one of them were either irritating in personality (in exaggerated or stereotypical ways) or badly voiced to the point that I just wanted them to disappear and never come back.

The style of the enemies was too close to DMC4 and the bird-like angels in armour didn’t work particularly well in that either.

The worst character was probably Bayonetta herself, it was like they tried to channel in the over-cocky super ego Dante had in the original Devil May Cry, but what was cool for Dante doesn’t work for Bayonetta, she talks way too much.

Then there was the music. Whooping demons to jazz tunes disco’d up. Scuse me while I puke.

Baldier’s voice actor was in fact bad though.

@36 Dude that’s only your opinion . The franchise survived very well with 4 successful game of various degrée of quality . And that so “uncool and boring hero” was one of the things people cheered loudly about when Marvel Vs capcom 3 appeared … so he must be doing something right .
