Oops: Modern Warfare 2 glitch grants free access to XBLA games
In Infinity Ward’s defense, we don’t imagine “unlocks a full copy of The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match” is a common bug to check for.
So, here’s how it works: Modern Warfare 2 – whether it’s the recent single-player demo or the full game – has turned SNK’s selection of XBLA games into an all-you-can download buffet. Well, some of them, anyway. Garou: Mark of the Wolves, The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug XX, and Samurai Showdown II are the only games that have been affected, oddly enough.
Other XBLA games – SNK-published or not – have managed to avoid the five-finger discount ray, meaning there’s a slight chance this bug is sentient, and instead of taking over the world, has decided that it just really loves certain SNK games. “Just one more match” against Geese and then you’ll start the apocalypse, huh? Yeah, we’ve all heard that one before.
Worthplaying has more details on exactly how the glitch works, but we doubt it’ll matter for too much longer, seeing as Microsoft, SNK, and Infinity Ward are probably scrambling to patch up this exceedingly odd money leak.

Works fine except you have to quick launch from Game…Kind of annoying but hey…builds up the gamerscore.

No way to tie the actual game to your gamertag, so you’re forced to do a quick launch from Modern Warfare 2 and then play it. Game works in full operation as long as you don’t quit out of it.
Pretty cool glitch, but I can’t imagine why it works for any reason.

Yeah I deleted all of them except Metal Gear XX….the only real game I would actually enjoy. Not a gamer score Whooore so, I only kept that one game..though I will quick launch other games I have saved over the year to see if any others work.

@ frostquake: Worthplaying seems to have tried out a few different titles and so far, it’s only SNK titles that actually work.
Actually, now that I think about it, I’m gonna see if LIMBO works with this.

It sounds like a problem with the way they did the authentication in the SNK games rather than MW2. MW2 just exposes the problem.

hahahaha infinity ward really dont know how to do a game correctly. They are sooooooo overrated.
